Tour Guide from the Underworld by Robbie Stargel
As you all may know the game of Yu-Gi-Oh is one that has become much more advanced than a children's card game. I want to welcome you to what I consider a business and an economic income.
Although trying to understand the game is not as hard as other games like Magic the Gathering, learning new things about the game is constantly a good thing to do. I am here to basically try and help give a better understanding of the game that we all play for money and fun.
I have 1 card that I want to talk about more specifically. This card is the following card: Tour Guide from the Underworld. This card has an incredible impact on the game or will continue to have an impact in the game in many decks to add combos and possibilities to any deck.
Tour Guide From the Underworld.
She reads:
|
When this card is Normal Summoned, you can Special Summon 1 Level 3 Fiend-Type monster from your hand or Deck. Its effects are negated, and it cannot be used as a Synchro Material Monster. |
It has been out since the middle of May, before the Dawn of the Exceeds into the TCG world. She is a TCG exclusive card, so the OCG has not been able to experience the true power she provides in the game. She started out at the 30$ range as she was harder to get. Oh, how we miss those days. Her current price is out the building, maxing at 230$ per copy. The cheapest you could ever get her right now is probably 130$ somewhere. It is hard to say that her price will drop with what is coming out soon. Her price is relatively one that is insane to imagine, as this is a children's card game. However, the things she does for the game is far more superior to that of other cards in the format. Three of her and sangan in almost any deck is an engine alone. She really provides consistency. However, she also does a lot more than just getting Sangan. She plays a vital role in many combo decks that use fiends. Here is a list of all the different cards that Tour Guide can special summon from the deck or hand that are more playable in the current meta.
Broww, Huntsman of Dark World
Sangan
Tour Guide itself
Infernity Necromancer
Dark King of the Abyss
Djinn Releaser of Rituals
Fabled Kushano
Night Assailant
Koa'ki Meiru Doom
Possessed Dark Soul
There are many different ones obviously, but those cards are among the best. You'll notice some of them fit into certain decks.
The first and most important of all things is Tour Guide getting Sangan from the deck, which opens up any number of plays from Sangan getting its effect off. Before in history it was insane because you could XYZ summon a monster, detach and get the Sangan search; however now you cannot do that. Still the +1-2 you get from the Tour Guide into the Sangan is a great way to start the duel off.
The second of the many decks that Tour Guide aids in playing is that of the newly released Dark World Deck. It fits into the combos of the deck heavily. Tour Guide serves a purpose for many of the combos that help the deck. The first is the option to special summon a Grapha from the graveyard by bouncing the Broww back to your hand, which gives you access to using his effect to draw a card. Tour Guide also has more than just that move in Dark Worlds. With Gates of the Dark World, you need a fiend in your graveyard to even use its effect. Tour Guide lets you summon another Tour Guide or Broww to XYZ summon into Leviathan, boosting him by detaching one of the two. This lets you be able to use the effect of Gate to dump cards from your hand to start any of the other combos the deck has, like discarding Snoww to search for anything else you need. Now as I mentioned before, Sangan helps search anything you need in the deck. In this instance, Fabled Raven is the key card you get to start many combos off for the deck with his discard outlet effect. The final thing that Tour Guide helps in the deck is the power of reusing many different monsters that are banished by the effect of Gates, in the summon condition for Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning, or Allure of Darkness. I am of course talking about Leviair the Sea Dragon. This rank 3 basically lets you special summon any banished 4 star or lower monster from either player's banished yard. This is a smaller combo to do larger damage in this deck. These are many of the stronger combos that Tour Guide provides just for Dark World.
Another deck that Tour Guide can be played in and aid is that of Infernities. This is an option in smaller numbers than 3 for the play style of the deck needs less monster to have no hand. Her purpose in the deck is to basically get Necromancer from the deck, to XYZ summon into Leviair for many different plays. There is not much space to continue into the Infernity combos in this article, but it will come.
Tour Guide continues to aid decks within minor, less played decks that are among the meta. Some of these other choices are not on tier as the other ones mentioned before, but on a fun level these can be used. Fabled Kushano is a light 3 star fiend tuner that can recur itself after sent to the graveyard with his effect to help the Fabled cards out, Night Assailant is a bad choice to get with Tour Guide, but is a decent card to set or discard if you are playing a way to use him. Koa'ki Meiru Doom is a target that is not exactly the best to get, but if you are trying some idea with Dark Simorgh or something, then it is an option to get from Tour Guide. Possessed Dark Soul is not a card you would main deck, but potentially side deck. Depending on the head judge and his or her ruling, this card and be tremendous help against the opponent. My friend got it ruled that his effect was a cost to tribute him and it worked in the graveyard, which goes against the Debris Dragon Lonefire Blossom issue. If the ruling does work for Possessed Dark Soul, then it is of major help against decks that have a lot of Level 3 monsters like X-Sabers. Djinn Releaser of Rituals is a strong card to get for the Herald of Perfection Agent deck, or any other deck that uses ritual monsters such as Relinquished. It lets you play against an opponent that can't special summon as long as that monster is face up. So having it combined with Herald of Perfection is a solid move. Also Tour Guide into the Djinn has a quick set up play to play the required amount of levels you would need to summon the Herald off the spell card, Dawn of the Herald, and be able to put the Tour Guide back into your hand with its effect after.
With the new pack of Photon Shockwave coming out real soon, the new XYZ monster that is rank 3 is incredibly good as well. It is a Gachi on steroids that all you need is a Tour Guide to make. It requires 2 Level 3 Monsters and its stats are 1500/2100. He is called Wind-Up Zenmaines. He says, "If this face-up card were to be destroyed, you can detach one material instead. Once per turn, during the endphase, if this effect was used during this turn, Target 1 card on the field; destroy it." That is such a powerful effect to use against many different decks in the future.
Another XYZ to come out that makes Tour Guide even better is a card called Number 30: Acid Golem of Destruction. Its drawback is that you can't special summon while you control him and have to pay 2000 Life Points if you have no XYZ materials attached to him to detach during your Standby Phase, but the major plus side to this card is that fact that he is a 3000/3000 beat stick that walks tall. He can be a game winner really quick against a weak hand that you can read into. His pure brute force is one that is unimaginable really early game and after having him on the field for a turn or two, a single tribute to save your Life Points is all you need to do for a Monarch or something. Overall, his power is another reason why Tour Guide is such a great card.
Thanks for reading this article, and I can assume that there will be many more in the future. The next article that I feel compelled to right about is on the new money card, Rescue Rabbit, so I hope you stay in to read that when I have it out. And again, Thanks for Playing.
